The Team

Gimlet Projects is the division of Gimlet Media that works with Spotify to develop and create new original series. We are a highly collaborative group of producers, sound engineers, editors, and composers who work with creative stakeholders across Spotify and Gimlet.

The Job

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Producer who is excited about working closely and collaboratively in a team environment to create a new, fast-paced, daily drive-time morning show. The Senior Producer serves as the director of the show and one of the main editorial voices for the show. As such, they will work closely with the production team on creating and executing a vision for the show. As a senior producer, you will be helping to manage a team of producers, as well as many aspects of show production such as: the editorial calendar, host relationships, live-to-tape recordings, edits, and more.

We’re looking for someone with an interest in news and pop culture. The ideal candidate will have a background in audio production and daily show production. They are able to give and receive constructive feedback, pitch great ideas, and are a team player. This is someone who is comfortable working early morning hours on a fast-paced show, and is interested in all facets of daily show production.

This Is A Full Time, Six Month Contract Position Based In New York.

What You’ll Do

  • Work with show’s Supervising Producer to manage schedules, run daily editorial meetings, and assign segments to producers.
  • Set deadlines, clearly communicate those deadlines and keep the team on track and working toward its goal.
  • Work with and manage relationships with hosts.
  • Direct and lead daily recordings, ensuring on-time delivery of show.
  • Ensure the production team is working collaboratively and constructively.
  • Own futures calendar – planning for pre-taped interviews.
  • Oversee guest bookings and key interviews.
  • Participate in – and possibly lead – edits.

What You’ll Bring

  • At least 5+ years of experience producing audio for radio or podcasts.
  • Strong mastery of production, and ability to multitask and run more than one project at a time.
  • Strong ability to keep open lines of communication on a team.
  • Strong ability to structure a compelling and unique audio story, both editorially and technically (ProTools experience required).
  • Ability to lead a production team and guide producers and APs.
  • Ability to work with Executive Producer and hosts to guide editorial identity and direction of the show.
  • Experience working on a tight production schedule and translating ideas into action.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead editorial meetings to pitch and execute segments in a daily show pace.
  • Demonstrated passion for news and pop culture, whether in video, audio, and/or written content.
  • Ability to own daily and weekly production schedules, and effectively prioritize team’s responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in creating assemblies in ProTools.
  • Self-direction and strong leadership skills.
