The Team

Gimlet Projects is the division of Gimlet Media that works with Spotify to develop and create new original series. We are a highly collaborative group of producers, sound engineers, editors, and composers who work with creative stakeholders across Spotify and Gimlet.

The Job

We’re looking for a skilled, self-motivated Producer to help develop and produce piloting for a new, morning drivetime show. This person is able to put out strong work on tight deadlines. They have sound editorial judgment, take pride in their work, and have a high attention to detail. They have a problem-solving attitude and take initiative to proactively anticipate the needs of projects and their fellow teammates.

We’re looking for someone with an interest in news and pop culture. The ideal candidate will have a background in audio production and daily show production. The job involves pitching story ideas, arranging interviews, writing scripts, working closely with the show’s hosts during recordings, and finding compelling ways to tell news and pop culture stories. This is someone who is comfortable working early morning hours on a fast-paced show, and is interested in all facets of daily show production.

This Is A Full Time, Six Month Contract Position Based In New York. 

What You’ll Do

  • Support and work collaboratively with the show production team– including the show hosts, senior producer, APs, and engineer.
  • Brainstorm, identify and pitch segment ideas in editorial meetings.
  • Find, pre-interview, and possibly interview guests.
  • Arrange for studio recordings and tape syncs.
  • Prep hosts, and help record live-to-tape segments.
  • Work through and organize tape. Write scripts. Participate in edits.
  • Help out with show tasks, including posting the episodes to our CMS.

What You’ll Bring

  • At least 3+ years of experience producing audio for radio or podcasts.
  • Demonstrated ability to pitch and execute segments in a daily show pace.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under strict deadlines.
  • Strong writer.
  • Demonstrated passion for news and pop culture, whether in video, audio, and/or written content.
  • Ability to stay organized and effectively prioritize responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in creating assemblies in ProTools.
  • An eye for detail and self-direction.
  • Interest and aptitude for growth as a team leader.
